The fetus

- The baby now weighs about half a kilogram
- The skin is wrinkled and red but will fill out with fat
- The ear is now developed enough to perceive sounds from outside
- The lungs continue to develop and are beginning to produce surfactant
Your body
Physical changes
- The belly is clearly round and you can feel the baby's movements regularly
- The skin on the belly may itch as it stretches
- The ankles may swell more toward the evening
Common symptoms
- The baby's movements are now distinct and sometimes visible from the outside
- Sleep difficulties may begin due to the size of the belly
- The need to urinate increases again
Emotional changes
- The fetal movements can make the pregnancy feel more real and tangible
- It's common to think about labor and parenthood
Good to know
- Get to know the baby's movement pattern – contact your healthcare provider if movements decrease
- Use a pregnancy pillow for better sleep comfort
- Air travel is usually safe up until weeks 28–36 depending on the airline
Food & nutrition
Good to eat
- Fiber-rich vegetables like broccoli, peas, and carrots
- Whole grain products for satiety and fiber
- Dried fruits like apricots and figs as snacks
- Water, ideally with lemon or cucumber for flavor
Be aware of
- Fiber intake should be around 25–35 grams per day to counteract constipation
- Drink extra water when increasing fiber intake
Avoid
- Alcohol
- Raw meat and raw fish
- Unpasteurized dairy products
Supplements
- Folic acid 400 micrograms daily
- Vitamin D 10 micrograms daily
- Omega-3 DHA if needed
Exercise
Continue with regular exercise. It can help with sleep problems, swelling, and strengthen the body for labor.
